Synthesis of Essential grugs
![]() This book represents an effort to express a long overdue need of compiling information which has been accumulated over the course of more than 30 years of our work in the area of the synthesis of medicinal drugs. Our effort fills obvious gaps that exist in the literature of drug synthesis. The synthesis of various groups of drugs are presented in an order similar to that traditionally presented in a pharmacology curriculum. This was done with a very specific goal in mind to harmonize the chemical aspects with the pharmacology curriculum in a manner useful to chemists. Practically every chapter begins with an accepted brief definition and de******ion of a particular group of drugs, proposes their classification, and briefly explains the present model of their action. This is followed by a detailed de******ion of methods for their synthesis. Of the thousands of drugs existing on the pharmaceutical market, we mainly discuss generic drugs that are included in the WHOs "Essential List of Drugs." For practically all of the 700+ drugs described in the book, references (around 2350) to the methods of their synthesis are given along with the most widespread synonyms. This book will provide the kind of information that will be of interest to those who work, or plan to begin work in the captivating areas of biologically active compounds and the synthesis of medicinal drugs. Pharmaceutical Ethics
![]() Pharmaceutical Ethics is an important text, which aims to provide the ethical guidelines much needed by the pharmaceutical industry. By focusing on many of the central issues such as the ethical aspects of clinical trials, informed consent, physician or patient choice and pharmaceutical advertising, this text will provide very good coverage of an area which perhaps still lacks coherent instruction.[list][*] Covers ethical issues involved in the testing and use of pharmaceuticals on human beings[*] Investigates issues such as whether choice of drug should lie with the physician or the patient[*] Looks at a wide variety of subjects connected with pharmaceutical ethics.[*] Focuses specifically on the issues surrounding the pharmaceutical industry, not medicine in general.[*] Fulfils an important need in the Pharmaceutical Industry Download: http://rapidshare.com/files/1859147/...714905 71.pdf أو http://mihd.net/lw457v

BIOLOGY
![]() Product Details Book Publisher: Benjamin Cummings (11 December, 2001) ISBN: 0805366245 Book author: Neil A. Campbell, Jane B. Reece Amazon Rating: 4.5 Book Description: The Sixth Edition of BIOLOGY by Neil Campbell and Jane Reece builds upon the earlier versions’ dual goals to both help readers develop a conceptual appreciation of life within the context of integrating themes, and to inspire readers to develop more positive and realistic impressions of science as a human activity. The authors have thoroughly updated each of the book’s eight units to reflect the existing progress in our understanding of life at its many levels, from molecules to ecosystems. Examples of updated content include the Human Genome Project, the revolution in systematics, HIV as a research model in evolutionary biology, the role of cell-signaling pathways in plant responses, new frontiers in neurobiology, and experimental approaches that are advancing ecology. To assure accurate representation of each field of biology, a team of stellar specialists has worked with the authors in updating every unit. An innovative design breakthrough ensures that the art is as current as the content. Guided Tour diagrams explicitly guide readers through the more challenging figures, succinctly explaining key structures, functions, and steps of processes within the figure, reducing the need to look back and forth between legend and art. It’s as if an instructor were looking over the reader’s shoulder and clarifying each part of a figure! Guided Tour commentary is set in blue, making it easy to differentiate these explanations from ordinary labels and keeping the figure itself clear and uncluttered. For college instructors and students. Green Tea Health Benefits and Applications (Food Science and Technology)ISBN
![]() : 0824704703Author: Yukihiko Hara Publisher: CRC PressEdition: (February 15, 2001) Pages: 240 Summary: Dr. Yukihiko Hara was the first to purify green tea catechins on a larger scale. As Director of the Food Research Laboratories at Mitsui Norin Co, he and his colleagues worked in their extra time to purify these compounds and make them available in the late 1980´s. The methods they developed are used today to purify the green tea extracts available from pills to shampoo. This book reports on their scientific efforts exploring the activity of the catechins and reviews the work of others in the field. It is clearly written in layman´s language with many illustrations. Key areas covered include where catechins come from and how they are purified, anti-oxidant and radical scavenging in food products and animals. Their tests, mostly in animals of the anti-bacterial action, the anti-viral action and the anti-cancer action, are reported in the next few chapters. Each chapter describes the experiments in sufficient detail so you can evaluate the meaning of the effect. There are further chapters on health effects in humans, including fat reduction and improved bowel function, help for diabetes and also hypertension, backed up by straightforward experiments. He ends with a general discussion of trends in the field. Much of this work was done by Dr. Hara´s group and close collaborators, so the original papers were published in Japanese; for many experiments this book is the only way to read about them in English. Green Tea Catechins are now studied around the world, but the quantities needed originated in this lab and he has supplied the catechins other scientists have used for most of that work. Mitsui Norin purified the catechins sold at Sigma Chemicals until this last year. Currently Dr. Hara´s group has a collaborative research effort with the US National Cancer Institute to test the anti-cancer effects of green tea catechins in people with precancerous lesions. The book provides the background one needs to appreciate this effort and gives the history of the science leading up to the NCI trials in a convenient way. Dr. John Weisburger, the distinguished research scientist from the Americal Health Foundation, has written a helpful foreword. Clinical Anatomy - 11th Edition
![]() Book Descrpition: Clinical Anatomy has remained the word of the same author for nearly half a century. Initially written for clinical medical students on the wards, clinics and revising for Finals, since then it has sold all over the world in hundreds of thousands and in several languages. Its success has been its constant revision to ensure it covers the student's needs. Today, it also covers the bulk of the anatomy required in the MRCS Part I, II, III and provides an excellent revision text for these candidates and medical students in a concise form with clear, easily reproduced diagrams. Review: Anatomy made memorable for students at all stagesIn this compact text clinical anatomist and professor of surgery Harold Ellis has produced another excellent text (like Lecture Notes on General Surgery). This "pocket-sized" (big pockets) book is portable and practical. It is well laid out by sections and each body area is examined in terms of systems. A clear explanation of superficial anatomy allows one to learn/revise on oneself (or a slim/muscular friend) the bony landmarks, muscular attachments and pulses. Bones, joints, vessels and nerves are dissected in a similar manner. Best of all, at each stage, common clinical applications are explained in clear language, so that it becomes easy to remember which nerve may be damaged by a dislocated shoulder, or structures are encountered in the various approaches for a hemiarthroplasty. The lucid (though never condescending) prose is well complemented by clear diagrams and imaging. Some people will find this book is not detailed enough for them, and it does not claim to be a definitive anatomy text covering everything down to the vein supplying the rhubarb gland, but many more students will find it perfectly adequate for their requirements. Certainly as someone who learned lists of anatomy for first year exams, passed them, and -- I'm not alone here -- promptly forgot it afterwards, the old comprehensive parrot-fashion approach to learning was ineffective. If you can read and recall all of the information in this book, you will be well prepared for most casual clinical requirements in many non-surgical specialities. I find that information presented in this manner is easy, even pleasurable, to read and, I expect, more likely to lead to retention than traditional dry anatomy texts.
